Top Wineries to Visit in Lodi
Most of the wineries in the area do not open until 11 AM, but Michael & David opens at 10:30 AM which makes it an ideal first stop if you plan on hitting multiple wineries in a day.

Michael & David Winery (4580 W Hwy 12 Lodi, CA 95242)
Start at powerhouse Michael David Winery for five free pours, including the iconic 7 Deadly Zins.
Michael & David offers two different tasting types – the normal wines for a $5 tasting fee, or the reserved for a slightly higher fee. Of course, the wine tasting fees are waived if you buy a bottle.
Besides the tasting area, they have a huge outdoor area that you can enjoy with a bottle or food from their on-site cafe. This is one of the largest wineries in the Lodi region. They also had a small shopping area where you could pick up wine swag.  You may like their reserve wines too, especially Inkblot & Gluttony.

Abundance Vineyards (1150 W. Turner Rd. Lodi, Ca)
This winery is independent owned and known for its reds. The petit syrah  deliciously inky and after  It’s smelled intensely rich. The ambiance at abundance winery is very classy and airy. The decor is that of a rustic Italian chateau.  The simplistic outdoor seating area has several Plain Wood picnic tables with lighting provided by strings of twinkle lights strung overhead from one fence to the other.  I noticed a sweet little water fountain in the corner which provided the most soothing relaxing sound…A nice touch for this outdoor picnic area.  If you’ve never been to a vineyard because you don’t like wine or you are are a wine virgin.  You will find Abundance Vineyards have something to offer for you that you might like their flavored sparkling wines!

Harmony Wynelands (9291 E Harney Ln Lodi, CA 95240)
Harmony Wynelands was a happy discovery in the Lodi wine country. You would never guess there was a full-scale theater organ in the middle of the vineyards, especially with full pipes and accompaniments. And yes, they also serve and sell wine too at their location on Harney Lane between 99 and 88. The vineyard has some limited estate offerings, mainly focused on Zin, Their Pipedreams zinfandel is amazing. With some grapes imported from other parts of California. Their standard 5-for-5 menu includes some alternatives, but it mainly focused on the region’s favorites. The staff is great telling you about the wine, but the real star is the organ. It came from the Castro Theatre in San Francisco and is highly unique to experience and very cool. This location is probably popular for weddings and other events, especially with such a unique setup and beautiful gardens. Harmony is well worth a stop on your Lodi adventure.
Harney Lane (9010 E Harney Ln Lodi, CA 95240)
Family of grape growers now making great wines. This place is a great winery to hang out enjoy the nice selection of tastings order a charcuterie plate and enjoy the outdoor patio!
The tastings are $5.00 and they will waive the fee when you purchase a bottle. Harney Lane delivers top awarded wines such as white Albarino. The 2014 Albariño, and the 2013 Tempranillo, are our absolute favorites. And on a hot summer day, nothing beats a glass of their dry rosè.

The reds are lovely.  Easily drinkable, but complex with rich flavors, nice legs and very fruit forward.
If you don’t give this winery a good and honest try, you are seriously missing something magical.
Harney produces a drier wine than most Lodi wineries, more similar to Napa without losing the unique taste of the Lodi region. This allows some of their varietals to really shine. The winemaker has been doing this well for a long time and it really shows.

d’Art Wines (13299 Curry Ave Lodi, CA 95240)
Wine and art together. This is a small family owned boutique winery specializing red wines. The winery has a nice expanded tasting room with a large outdoor area. There is a lot of art in and around the winery which adds to the experience. The staff are friendly and helpful, although they can be rushed during peak times as you would expect. The wine is a big star here. d’Art Wines has a style that is very different than the traditional California model. The tannins are very muted with a silky mouth feel. The real stars are the dessert wines, especially the new ports. Their standard varietals are also really nice and a welcome change from most other dry wines in your cellar. The tastings are $5.00 per person and they waive that fee if you buy a bottle.

Van Ruiten Family Winery (340 W Hwy 12 – Lodi, CA 95242)
Do not pass up this opportunity to come here and do wine tasting. They have so many wines to taste and are knowledgeable and friendly to all guests. Van Ruiten Family Winery began producing grapes in the 1950’s before the family started to actually produce wines themselves. If you are white lover You should try  their sauvignon blanc and two of the signature 2013 chardonnay.  Beautiful grounds with a Tuscan patio area. The wines (reds) were just great. Bought a Cabernet to bring home. There is a darling gift shop area too. Friendly staff & you get free tasting if you buy a bottle of wine. Even if you don’t, the price for tasting is very reasonable. It was great to do the tasting on the patio. A little taste of Italy!
Berghold Vineyards (17343 N. Cherry Road Lodi, CA 95240)
Most amazing tasting room anywhere. The grounds and tasting room is elegant and full of history. Most of the bars and furniture were brought over from very far away and if you should ever get the chance to meet Joe Berghold in the tasting room you are in for a treat! Just an exceptional experience in every way.  Owners Kay and Joe pour wine and converse with old and new friends.  The wine is delicious and well priced.  The tasting room boasts interesting antiques with stories that go with them.  Lodi’s finest!

You will be amazed their wines smoothness and pleasant flavors each variety had to offer. Truly family-owned winery’s  our favorites The Zinfandel – “Footstomp”  is very tasty and the Crankcase.  A secret blend that you can’t miss.  Came here for the Lodi Wine and Chocolate festival and it was one of the better-organized wineries.
